VTSSM Legacy Society

Many people ask us: "How can I help the Museum in a lasting way?" Here’s an answer that can really make a long-term difference!

Please consider making a memorial gift in the name of a friend or loved one, a direct bequest in your will, or another gift during your lifetime, as described below.

Here are the details: The Vermont Ski & Snowboard Legacy Society (the "Legacy Society") is a permanent fund established for the purpose of providing financial support for the mission and activities of the Vermont Ski & Snowboard Museum.

Objectives: The Legacy Society was established in 2006, and is organized and managed in a manner designed to be consistent with the following objectives:

  1. Provide a steady flow of revenue to support the ongoing operations of the Museum;
  2. Preserve capital through conservative investments, and payout of earnings only (subject to the Emergency Provisions);
  3. Provide contributors with the comfort that their gifts will endure long into the future; and
  4. Provide appropriate long-term recognition to its contributors.

The Museum accepts Legacy donations in any or all of the following forms:

  1. Direct unrestricted or restricted gifts of cash or property;
  2. Bequests of cash, stock, other investments or property;
  3. Life Insurance Policy beneficiary proceeds;
  4. Charitable Remainder Trusts;
  5. Charitable Lead Trusts;
  6. Gift Annuities;
  7. Growth in Principal from investments; and
  8. Other contributions as may be deemed appropriate to the Investment Policy.

The operation of the Legacy Society is overseen by an Operating Committee consisting of 3 members, elected by the Board of Directors of the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum on an annual basis, for three-year staggered terms.

The Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum is a 501c3. Donations are tax deductible within the extent of the law.
