First skiing experience
"About 10-12 years old. I lived in Gilman, VT. We skied as a family before cable bindings. There was a Gilman Ski Club called 'Penguins'. They made at least one trip as a group into Tuckerman's Ravine. We used to ski with my uncle's family who lived in Littleton, NH, 1934-36 approximately."

"I was 60 mm mortar Sgt. I joined Mar. 1943 and stayed to the break up." "Being a member of the 10th Mt. was a great experience but I sure would not want to repeat same. I'm very proud that I joined 10th."
Why did you join the 10th?
"I enjoyed skiing - my mother influenced me and one other older fellow, Maurice Finn, had already joined."
