History

Woody's Cracker Barrel was owned and operated by Emory "Woody" Woodall and was situated next door to the Fundador Lodge.  According to an article in Business People Vermont on Middlebury College ski area operators Peter Mackey and Michael Hussey, "The Shop's owner, Emory "Woody" Woodall, taught local children, including Hussey, to cross-country ski long before the sport became popular.  'Woody promoted Nordic skiing when it was known very little [in the late 1960s].  There was a small group of racers in our area of Vermont,' Hussey says."  Hussey's mother, Margaret, served as the manager of Woody's in addition to running her own Vermont Nordic ski area, Glebe Mountain Farm at Timber Ridge in Windham.

Woody's Cracker Barrel was listed--without description--in a 1973 directory.  Two undated Woody's Cracker Barrel brochures are available: the one pictured above, and a full brochure below which offers advertises rentals (5 day rentals for $20), lessons, tours, and lodging at nearby Green Mountain Resort.

Today, Woody's Cracker Barrel is out of operation.
