"Killington Ski Area, Killington, Vermont 05751.  802/422-3333.  Five miles of marked trails with varied terrain for novice, intermediate, and expert cross-country skiers.  These trails wind intermittently through wooded areas, over brooks, by waterfalls and into open areas offering panoranic views of Killington.  Two classes daily teach all levels--beginner, novice, intermediate, and advanced.  Half-day and full-day tours are available.  No-wax skis, boots and poles for children and adults can be rented." -Vermont Ski Guide, 1973

According to gondyline.com, an online ski area guide, "this popular artist's rendering of Killington was updated in the late 1970s to reflect the addition of Outer Limits and the South Ridge section.  It also shows trail enhancements of Rams Head."

History

Opened in 1958, Killington Ski Area is the largest alpine resort in the eastern United States (and also boasts the highest vertical drop in the East) making it the self-proclaimed "Beast of the East."  In the 1970s Killington offered 5 miles of cross country trails, two lessons daily, and rentals for children and adults.
