History

In 1796 William Cragg built a sawmill and the first business in what would become the town of West Dover, Vt.  The original mill burned down in 1901, but the property served as the site of various farms and industrial operations until 1967 when one of the remaining farms was purchased with the intention of building a private vacation home.  Instead, the farm's barn was restored and became The Inn at Sawmill Farm.

The Inn at Sawmill Farm was only listed in one undated cross country directory presumable from the late 1970s or 80s based on some of the other ski areas that were also listed.  Aside from this single entry (listed in full above) no other information has turned up regarding cross country skiing at the Inn at Sawmill Farm.  This listing, however, makes it clear that at some point the inn itself offered atleast ten miles of ski touring trails on the premises.  Today, The Inn at Sawmill Farm is still open year round, though it no longer offers cross country skiing.
