History

Fox Run in Ludlow was owned and operated by Regis Garvey. According to his obituary in the Rutland Herald, Garvey moved his family to Ludlow in 1977 and bought Fox Run Resort and Golf Course, though it was listed in directories as early as 1974. From that time on, Fox Run operated as a nine hole golf course and ski touring center at the base of Okemo Mountain offering supples and equiptment at Tally-Ho Shop (advertised in brochures through the 70s), guided tours, instruction and between 15 and 25 km of marked trails over its two decade span.

"As a business owner in Ludlow," the Rutland Herald continued, "he [Garvey] felt a responsibility to be involved in how the town was developed, so he served on the Town's Planning Board. During his tenure on the Board, Okemo Mountain Ski Area was purchased and began its development by its still current owners. He was proud of his involvement in how the Town of Ludlow worked with the new owners in making Okemo Mountain become a successful ski area." During him twenty years in operation, Garvey was "proud to say that each of his six children and most of their spouses had helped him operate his business"--including Patrick Garvey who was listed as the contact for Fox Run in 1986.

In 1997 Garvey retired and sold Fox Run to Okemo Mountain Resort. Today, the former Fox Run is now the 18-hole Okemo Valley Golf Club. In the winter, Okemo Valley Nordic Center operates out of the clubhouse facility.
