Saint Michaels College

Saint Michaels College (SMC), located in Colchester, VT officially included nordic skiing as a varsity sport in the early 1950s. The actual sport can be traced back to the winter of 1933-34 when the college hosted an on-campus carnival with local colleges that included a cross-country ski race. One of the early coaches and racers was Greg McClallen’64 who led the team to the EISA Division II title as head coach in 1964-65, right after he graduated.

SMC continued to compete on the EISA Division II circuit through the 80’s and early 90’s when they moved up to the EISA Div I race circuit. Their team was very competitive on the Div II circuit with the women’s team winning many championship titles. Over the history of the nordic program, SMC had seven nordic racers compete in the NCAA Championships including Vermonter Amy Vile. Molly (Enman) Peters, a former All-America and three-sport standout at Middlebury College, returns for her second season as the head coach of the Saint Michael's College Nordic skiing program in 2014.
