"It was a learning experience. I and my comrades learned how to take care of ourselves in all different kinds of weather and also at different altitudes. We learned also to always be alert to what was around us and be forever on our guard. We later came to realize what an honor it was to serve in the 10th."

"I was drafted into World War II. When I said that I could ski that is how I became a 10th Mountain Soldier."
