Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum Launches Slope Style: Fashion on Snow

Exhibit December 5 with Retro-Themed Party

STOWE, VT (November 17, 2014)— The Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum opens a new exhibit entitled Slope Style; Fashion on Snow 1930-2014, Friday December 5th. The Slope Style exhibit documents the exciting evolution of ski and snowboard fashion from the 1930s to the present.

According to museum curator, Meredith Scott, “The Slope Style exhibit idea was born from the recent acquisition of twenty-five iconic ski outfits from former Bogner ski model, Sandra Heath. By showcasing these items, memorabilia from Sandra’s modeling days, as well as other important pieces from the museum’s collection we will show a fun and definitive exhibit of snow sports fashion.”

The museum will bring thirty-five fully accessorized vintage outfits to life, including a special section devoted to iconic Vermont ski fashion brands such as Burton, Slalom, CB Sports, Bogner and Overdrive. The exhibit runs through October 2015.

The public is invited to dig out their retro-themed ski and snowboard apparel and join the museum from 7-9 pm to kick off this yearlong exhibit. Prizes will be awarded to attendees wearing the best vintage outfits, accessories or their oldest ski pass. Light hors d'oeuvres will be served and there will be a cash bar. Please make a donation at the door.

Major exhibit sponsors include, Green Mountain Fine Art Gallery in Stowe, Jann & Chuck Perkins for The Alpine Shop, Darn Tough Socks, Helmet Huggers, The Ski Rack and Orage.

Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum Seeks Vintage Apparel and Sponsors for Year Long Slope Style Fashion Exhibit

STOWE, VT (August 25, 2014)— Through the decades snow sports fashion has played an important role in Vermont’s economy spawning ski and snowboard shops, manufacturers, distributors and designers. The Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum is seeking assistance from the snowsports community to help source a new exhibit entitled Slope Style; Fashion on Snow 1930-2014. The exhibit, opening November 28, 2014 in Stowe, Vermont, will document the exciting evolution of ski and snowboard fashion from the 1930s to the present. The museum is currently accepting one-year loans of on-snow or après outfits. A number of sponsorship packages and partnership opportunities are also available to support the exhibit. Click here for details.

According to museum curator, Meredith Scott, “The Slope Style exhibit idea was born from the recent acquisition of twenty-five iconic ski outfits from former Bogner model, Sandra Heath. By showcasing these items, as well as other important pieces from the museum’s permanent collection and loaned items we hope to build a definitive exhibit of snow sports fashion.”

The museum is encouraging businesses and individuals to share one or more of their favorite fully accessorized vintage outfits from their personal collections. The outfit will be highlighted in a pre-exhibit opening fashion show and displayed for one year on life-like mannequins. Each outfit will include anecdotes, images, and memorabilia showcasing the sponsor’s association with the snow sports industry.
